Separation of government from business
So as we see, Nancy Pelosi and her husband were engaging in a bunch of trades that were obviously going to be influenced by inside information that she had about government policy. You know? Omar bin al Khattab when he was a Khalifa. He used to forbid anyone that he had appointed to the government from engaging in trade whether buying or selling. It was narrated that Amr had one agent whom he had appointed whose name was Al Harith and he noticed Amr noticed that he started to get rich.
So he asked him, well, where did this wealth come from? And Harith said, I had some money and I engaged in trade with it and I made some profit. So Amr said, well, Lahir did not appoint you to engage in trade and he took all of his profits from him. If you don't completely separate people in the government from engaging in business, there's always gonna be conflicts of interest. And in business will have the upper hand because if the people in government are engaging in business, then they will be engaging in government for the sake of increasing their business, advantage and profits rather than crafting and implementing responsible social policy for the benefit of the people.
That's Islam.
