Non-Muslims Who "Get it"
You know, among my favorite comments or interactions that I get from my social media posts or videos are comments by non Muslims who get it. Non Muslims who are not irreparably indoctrinated with anti Muslim bias. Non Muslims who can think for themselves. Non Muslims who can be objective and have a reasonable grasp on reality. These comments stand out, and they stand out because they're so rare.
And I think that they're rare because of what you could maybe call non Muslim privilege because the West, non Muslims, create, control, and dominate narratives on pretty much everything. So they have very little reason to ever question, ever scrutinize what they think, or to ever even consider what anybody else thinks. They are almost unavoidably blinded by hubris and a sense of unquestionable supremacy. They can believe and promote the most outlandish and demonstrably false propaganda. They can deny present and historical facts, and they can insulate themselves completely from any alternative narratives without any sense of self consciousness whatsoever.
This is the narcissism of power. They imagine that they don't have to listen to anyone and that everyone must listen to them and that everyone actually believes them when they speak. The overwhelming majority of comments that I receive from non Muslims are hostile, reactionary, knee jerk programmed responses that just reveal the extent to which these commenters are essentially human bots on an intellectual level. I mean, an amateur programmer could literally create an AI replicator for everything that they're ever going to say because it's so predictable for anyone who's even remotely familiar with Christian, atheist, Hindu, Jewish, anti Muslim talking points. These are not thinking people, and frankly, they give non Muslims a very bad image.
There are a lot of good non Muslims out there, intelligent, decent, moral people. But unfortunately, extremism and western supremacism has been allowed to flourish in their societies for a very long time, and it's dragging down their whole community. This is a problem only good non Muslims can solve. They have to start holding each other accountable and reining in the extremists and reactionaries and western supremacists among them. As I've said before, the Muslim world is poised to become the most important political, cultural, and economic influence on earth over the next several decades.
Western and non Muslim arrogance and animosity is not going to be a productive strategy for engaging with the world. So I'm always pleased and assured when I receive comments from fair, intelligent, independent minded non Muslims. They are truly a credit to their communities, to their respective faiths and belief systems, and these are the kind of people whom we, the Muslims, will always be happy to work with.
