Only boycott with the rulers' permission?
Somebody asked me, how should we respond, to people who claim that you shouldn't boycott unless the ruler, has, ordered you to boycott. Unless the ruler has said that you should boycott. You're not allowed to boycott. I mean, obviously, this is ludicrous. This is ridiculous.
I mean, when you boycott, all you're doing is choosing to not shop at one location and instead taking your consumer dollars to another location, which is what you do every single day in the market anyway. It's what you do anyway. So when you go to one shop, you're de facto boycotting the other shop. When you go to one company, you buy from one company, buy from one brand, you are essentially boycotting the other company, the other business, the other brand for reasons that don't have anything to do with morality or principle or politics. You're doing it for consumer reasons.
You're making your own consumer choices. Well, that's what you're doing now when you boycott a company for political, moral or principled reasons. It's the same. So, I mean, are we supposed to wait for the rulers to give us a shopping list of the the companies that we're allowed to shop at or that we must shop at? Otherwise, it's entirely your choice where you spend your money.
That's entirely your choice. The rulers don't have anything to do with it. I think you're asking a bit much, of the rulers to be able to give you a list of all of the shops and all of the companies and all of the businesses that you're supposed to frequent, and not to choose one over the other. And whether you choose one over the other depends on, different, consumer factors that you consider to be important, like price, like variety, like quality and so on, brand prestige and everything else. So if you're just including in your calculation whether or not you think that this company is moral, whether or not you think this company is aligned with your values, aligned with your political and moral and religious principles, that's part of your market decision.
That's that's entirely your choice with your consumer dollars. The ruler doesn't have anything to do with that. Don't be silly.
