Repentance and the concealment of sins
I just wanted to share a story really quickly from the days of Omar bin Al Khattab when he was the Khalifa. And it's particularly relevant, I think, for revert sisters who have a history prior to Islam that includes zina, and they have repented for that, and they regret it, and they have remorse for that. A man came to Amr and told him, my wife and I had a daughter in Jahiliyah, and we attempted to bury her alive. But at the last moment, we couldn't bear it, and we changed our minds, and we saved her. She embraced Islam later on but committed zina.
As they put it, she committed an act deserving of the had punishment. Later after that, she regretted what she had done and sincerely repented to Allah. They asked Omar, what should we do regarding her? And Omar said, marry her off as a chaste woman. Don't reveal her history.
Don't reveal her past. Allah has concealed it, and you should conceal it as well. Marry her off as a chaste woman.
