Invoke Article 6: US Violations in Indonesia

Middle Nation · 18 Jan 2025 · 8:22 · YouTube

We will start with Indonesia. There will be other countries as well. I hope I am bringing justice. I cannot bring the the the the justice when I speak about what happened in Indonesia during World War two and after World War two. So we know Indonesia has a long and complex history, of being colonized, especially by the European countries, for example, the Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, and England.

And in the last three hundred and fifty years, Dutch has been colonizing Indonesia. And and so it is quite important to the Dutch people at that time until the year 1942 where Indonesia was finally handed over to Japan. You may wonder what Japanese interest in Indonesia because at the time during just around the World War two in early nineteen forties where America sanctioned oil trade to Japan, and the Japan has shifted their oil resources to Indonesia starting with Arakan, Kalimantan, and then to Sulawesi and then Java. So jet however, Japanese ruling was shot, especially after they were defeated in the World War two and and what and also what had happened to Hiroshima and Nagasaki. There were also conflicts going on at the same time in China, so but we are going to focus a little bit here in Indonesia.

But whatever is happening in China in relation to America at the at that time is also having the impact towards Indonesia with the with some degree. So Indonesia finally gained its independence in August 1945 from Japan, and that that declaration was led by the president Sukarno, who was once also imprisoned by the Dutch. So I hope you can understand how much people of Indonesia wanted this independence, and you can imagine there were many political parties, individuals, fighters, resistors, national heroes at the time who has who has they're have fight it for their independence. First is the PKI, which was the communist party of Indonesia. Number one, communist party, which was also thriving.

The other one is the nationalist nationalist party, which was himself was leading, and the other party including the Muslims organization, example, the Masjumin party. So after independence, there were a bit of internals there were internal struggle in the administration. However, Sukarno managed to the country to be balanced as possible with this coagulation government and even declared that he could not and would not ride a three legged horse. So how does did America become involved with Indonesia? So after that World War two, it is crucial for The United States Of America to contain communism.

This is the the thing that they are pushing, contain communism for peace and security at the time. So they could not ensure Indonesia being a third world country, an underdeveloped country region to maintain in a neutralist position. And Indonesia was under a relatively stable and balanced administration at that time by Sukarno, but he's also establishing relations with The United States at the same time with the Soviet Union at the time and also China. So Indonesia is a big country with many, with a a big population. So there were leading points that heightened CIA interventions in Indonesia, which consists of two parts.

So the first part in the in the in the early nineteen fifties, what happened was there were successful elections in the PKI, which was the communist party in the Sukarno coalition government. And this PKI had over over 1,000,000 members and became a very solid organization. Next is when Sukarno developed relations with Soviet Union and also China, and he had nationalized many Dutch holdings. So they're doing quite okay at the time. Until he the 1955, 1954, there was when the Bandung conference start started.

This is also called the Asia Africa conference. There were 29 countries attended this conference from Afghanistan to Yemen, including China. So this conference was chaired by the Indonesian prime minister himself, and it was and the opening was by president Socano, and he said, let a new Asia and a new Africa be be brought be born. So we know BRICS has come up. But in the in the nineteen fifties, they wanted to do a good relationship, including China.

So what what were the CIA intervent intervention happened is, at the end of this, conference, eight members of Chinese delegates, seven Vietnamese, and and two European journalists, the the air in their flight crashed mysteriously, which was later found out there were time bomb over there. And, two decades later, the CIA was investigated. So they they were they've been doing, little by little, so they were not happy with the relations that is established between the Asia Africa, and they're not happy with Sukarno having relation with the the Soviet Union at that time. So, ultimately, they plan to remove Sukarno from Indonesia because PKI would have been the next largest communist party after Russia and and China. So 1955, Indonesia election campaign, CIAA was given had given $1,000,000 to the Mazjumi party to thwart the PKI at the campaign.

This was according to the CIA officer Joseph Pako Pako de Smith. And they also had intervened in direct targeting Sukarno personally using agents to tarnish tarnish his reputation with, claims of sexual activities and pornography. There were also attempts to assassinate. Excuse me. So the second part was much bigger.

So the the CIA backed rebel groups. This had heightened, including they provide arms to topple Sukarno. At the same time, they provide military training to rebel groups. Unfortunately, on the October 1, rebel groups had become out of control. They abducted and murdered several military officers and announced that their action and stated that they had been sponsored by the CIA.

However, there were claims that it was done by the PKI. So a coup happened, and this coup was claimed to be backed by the communist in China. And you can imagine the horrific death that had occurred after that. The the Indonesian described described it as similar like a is a is a massacre. They call it the Pembantayan, means that it was total chaotic.

And there are many photographs that's been displayed on the television news, giving back to to one and showed the photos to the American people saying that this has been done by the communist people. And at the same time, anti communist organization and individuals, including Muslims, were encouraged to join the slaying of anyone suspected of being the PKI sympathizer. And in the end, PKI was eliminated. The massacre had happened. So in summary, there were close to about half a million people who were murdered or, I mean, killed, and, they managed to abort the coup.

However, there was too much too much damage. So by interfering, the CIA interfered with the government. They they they have done this over ten years, and and and they have interfered a government that was actually doing stable with good relations at the time. So so in summary, the United's United Nations behavior in interfering with foreign countries for the sake of for they say that for regional peace, this is, by using hate and, and also giving military support. This has been going on since this time, and you can see it multiple times in different countries.

Thank you, sister Lisa.
